Local News: Escalante Man Falls in Drug Raid

A resident of Escalante City was arrested by local authorities in a buy bust operation about 11:50AM, Wednesday at Sitio Danao, Brgy. Old Poblacion.

Police identified the suspect as Jeffrey Openio, 32, of Sitio Guiwanon, Brgy. Old Poblacion 2 who handed one elongated heat-sealed sachet containing suspected shabu to PO2 Rey Dolmae Cañezares who acted as poseur buyer in exchange for two pieces P500.00 marked bills.

SPO3 Arlene Torrendon, WCCD deputy chief said they are still thoroughly examining the claims of the victim (name being withheld) and that of the 32-year old suspect who is now under police custody.

Two persons were killed in separate road accidents in the southern part of Negros Occidental.

In Isabela, a motorcycle rider was declared dead by attending physician at Ignacio Lacson Arroyo Sr. Memorial District Hospital after his vehicle slammed into a signage about 8:30PM, Monday.

Police report said Artemio Aungon, 62, of Brgy. Guintubdan was negotiating ing a curve at Hacienda Orong when he hit the signage with his black-colored Honda XRM.

Reports identified the victims as Jomar Torecilla, 33, of Brgy. Nayon, San Enrique and Lynmar Fat, 34, of Brgy. Magallon Cadre, EB Magalona who succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds allegedly inflicted by Carlos Apostol, of Calatrava town and watchman of Hacienda Angelita, Brgy. Sag-ang.

Sipalay City Police with Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) Intelligence Branch and Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (AIDSOTF) busted two persons in a raid resulting to the recovery of suspected drugs and paraphernalia, Tuesday morning.

PSupt. Noel Mana-ay and PSInsp. Irma Tagle Teoxon apprehended Victor Magbanua, 39, of Purok 2, Brgy. 2, Sipalay City and Rodolfo Manaloan after being busted by operatives and recovered several sachets of suspected shabu and paraphernalia.

Local News: Septuagenarian Jailed for Stabbing

A 70-year old man in Pontevedra was arrested by local police authorities for alleged stabbing of his neighbor, Tuesday evening at Brgy. Miranda.

Nabbed was Naciansino Gemotra who reportedly stabbed Edwin Gegataras, 58, at about 8PM, March 18. The victim sustained multiple stab wounds in the chest and rushed to Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod City for treatment.

The suspect was immediately apprehended and detained for further investigation and filing of criminal charges. Meanwhile, probers recovered a triple-bladed weapon from the crime scene and believed to be the weapon used by the suspect in the stabbing.

Local News: Bacolod PNP Beefs Up Security Measures

Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) head directed his men to intensify security measures after an information was received on the alleged presence of unidentified armed groups in the City.

PSSupt. Larry Decena, BCPO OIC reported that intelligence information claims that two armed robbery groups including the Ozamis group are in the city. He has also directed his men to implement intelligence gathering and beef up security measures that would prevent the groups from operating here.

Police authorities are intensifying its probe on reports that counterfeit bills circulating in Bacolod City are produced in Cebu.

Following the arrest of two suspects Thursday, members of the Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU) 6 are looking into the possibility that the confiscated fake money from suspects Alexis Yepes and Edzel Rosales were produced in Cebu City and distributed and even sold in Bacolod and Negros Occidental.

PO3 Joshua Barile of RIU-6 led the raid Thursday in Brgy. 16 resulting to the arrest of Yepes, 35, of Iligan City and Rosales, 37, of Brgy. 10 in Bacolod for allegedly selling fake P1, 000 and P500 bills for P350 and P250, respectively.

Residents of Purok Calderon, Brgy. Sagua Banwa in Valladolid yesterday claimed to have found the remains of a human including the head at a muddy portion of the farm.

PCInsp. Luisito Acebuche, Valladolid Police chief and his men verified the reports and said that the bones were identified as that of Berto Delicano, 58, of Brgy. Lacaron whose head was missing two days after it was buried in June 2012.

The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) officer-in-charge has directed all station heads to beef up campaigns to arrest and charge suspects involved in various crimes in the City.

Earlier, PSSupt. Larry Decena, BCPO-OIC ordered to intensify checkpoint operations, particularly the implementation of "no plate, no travel" policy on motorcycles and tricycles.

Also, records show that violations of those drivers intercepted were not wearing helmets and vehicles have no plate numbers, which are common traffic violations.

The effort may help prevent the occurrence of snatching and petty incidents in Bacolod City.

Local News: Fire Razes CSA-B Gym

Bureau of Fire Protection in Bacolod yesterday afternoon reported that a fire razed Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod gymnasium which allegedly started at the players’ quarter near the area.

FO1 Ryan Lamis, of BFP said the call was made about 5:45PM indicating that the conflagration has reached the gymnasium of the school which houses the band room and their equipment, the performing arts room with their costumes.

No casualties and injured persons were reported due to the incident.

Investigation as to how the fire started is undergoing and referred to FO3 Cornelio Silva. Cost of damages is still under probe.

The fire was reported out about 6:30PM.

Local News: Victorias PNP Nab Most Wanted

Police authorities in Victorias City apprehended two suspects included in the City’s wanted list in a raid Sunday for various charges.

PSupt. Santiago Y. Rapiz, police chief reported that Ricky Basa alias Amp, 19, of North Bacayan, Brgy. 19, was nabbed at Brgy. Nanca in EB Magalona for charges of theft. He was collared through a warrant issued by Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) Judge Evelyn D. Arsenio at about 9:30AM, Sunday.

Arsenio recommended P10, 000 bail for Basa’ s temporary liberty.

Meanwhile, Christian Toles, 45, of Fermont Village, Brgy. 7 was apprehended for attempted homicide at about 12:25PM, Sunday at hacienda Leonor, Brgy. 8 in Victorias City.

Local News: Woman ‘Drug’ Peddler Faces Raps

Criminal charges for possession and peddling of illegal drugs were filed against a 26-year old suspected pusher yesterday before the City Prosecutors Office.

Police report said violation of sections 5 (peddling), 11 (possession) and 12 (possession of drug paraphernalia) of the Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 were filed against Febie Equibal by operatives of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (CAIDSOTG) led by PSInsp. Neil Exaltado.

Exaltado led the raid at Brgy. 2, Monday morning which resulted to the confiscation of P40, 000 worth of suspected shabu from her possession.

Seized from the subject were one big and six elongated plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, P500 marked bill, P2, 110 cash believed to be proceeds from the illegal trade and other drug paraphernalia.

Operatives of Victorias City Police arrested a resident of Brgy. 6 in the city during a buy-bust operation about 10:05 PM, Tuesday at Encarnacion St., Canetown Subd., Brgy. 19-A.

PSupt. Santiago Y. Rapiz, city police chief said Frederick Gomez alias Fritz, 44, of Purok Salvacion was nabbed after he handed a small sachet containing suspected shabu in exchange for 4 pieces of P100 marked bills from a poseur buyer. All items were recovered from the suspect.

Local News: Cops Also Eye Homicide in Woman’s Death

Bacolod City police authorities are looking into another angle in the alleged suicide of a 32-year old woman who was found dead by her live-in partner about 6PM, Tuesday at Purok Calong-calong, Brgy. Singcang-Airport.

PSInsp. Ser Ulrich Christian Gelera, Police Station 8 chief told NDB that though they are not discounting the possibility of suicide, they are also investigating the angle of a homicide in the death of Romela Muñoz.

Muñoz was found with a single gunshot wound on the left portion of her chest from a pistol. Her live-in partner, Junmark Ibe was also at the scene when the body was discovered.

Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) head ordered the reorganization of station commanders and other officials in the different departments, Thursday last week based on their performance evaluation and policy of the Philippine National Police.

PSSupt. Larry Decena, BCPO officer-in-charge earlier reported that officials who were given new assignments will assume today.

Among those reassigned were; PSupt. Jefferson Descallar, deputy for operation was reassigned as deputy for administration replacing PSupt. Alexander Ermeo, who was reassigned as chief of Mobile Patrol Group and PSupt. Armando Tubongbanua was reassigned as deputy for operation of BCPO.

Charito Lurio, of EB Magalona town, according to reports was awaiting for the match to start when she had a stroke or sometimes referred to as cerebrovascular accident.
