Local News: Guns, Grenades Seized from ‘Gun Runners’

Several high-powered firearms, ammunitions and hand grenade were confiscated from the suspects who reportedly shot a cop dead, Sunday afternoon at Bulubito-on Beach in Barangay Miranda, Hinigaran town.

Joint elements of La Castellana and Pontevedra Police led by PSInsp. Ruben M. Pajarito and SPO3 Rafael Elegio seized the following; one .45 caliber pistol Norinco M1911A1 WIH with serial number (SN) BA18540-08-246, one .45 Remington pistol SN: 1760363, one .45 caliber Colt 1911 pistol with SN: 86714, one .45 caliber Caspian pistol with SN: 0424621, one 9mm Glock 17 pistol with SN: AAAN114 and four pieces of M61 fragmentation hand grenade.

Local News: Bago PNP Pursues Ex-Kagawad for Shooting 3 Men

Police officers in Bago City are in pursuit of a former barangay kagawad implicated in the shooting incident and killing two persons about 9PM, Sunday at Purok Abaka in Brgy. Mailum.

SPO4 Nelson Vargas, responding officer identified the victims as Julius Vilbar, 48, and cousin Johnrill, 23, and Samuel Cantanilla, 36, all of Brgy. Mailum and sustained multiple gunshot wounds allegedly inflicted by Charry Labrador.

Labrador, 35, former kagawad of Purok Mangumay, Brgy. Mailum reportedly shot the victims for grudges and conflict between him and Julius Vilbar.

Reports said, Cantanilla and Julius Vilbar succumbed to gunshot wounds and were declared dead by attending physicians at Bago City District Hospital;

Johnrill was transferred to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) for further medical treatment.

Local News: Brothers Fall for ‘Carnapping’

Two brothers were arrested by elements of Police Station 1 at Brgy. Pahanocoy during follow-up operation about 2:30AM, yesterday.

Led by PSupt. Leonardo Borromeo, Roy Guzon, 33, and his younger brother, Rafael, of 1st Road Fuentebella Subd., in Brgy. Taculing were apprehended for allegedly stealing the motorcycle owned by Rudolph Tom Capareño.

Capareño, 30, of San Jose Mina, Sipalay City earlier lodged a complaint before the station alleging that his Suzuki Raider motorcycle with plate number 5552OB was parked in front of Business Inn along Lacson St. when stolen by unidentified suspects.

PO3 Refe Tabligan, of Kabankalan City Police Station arrested Jovie Barsenal, 37, of Brgy. Oringao and Julio Lauricio, 18, of Brgy. Tan-awan, both laborers for illegally possessing firearms and ammunitions.

Local News: Ex-Convict Gunned Down

A reported ex-convict was gunned down about 12 noon yesterday at Purok Boulevard, Brgy. 13 in Bacolod City in front of witnesses.

Police report said the victim is Jonathan Cuesta, 46, of Glendale Homes, Brgy. Granada, who was shot using an unknown gun.

The gunman was positively identified by Barangay. Kagawad Cecilia Chavez and James Barbon as Maximo Canama alias "Mok-mok" who is a former resident of Brgy. 13.

Canama immediately fled the crime scene on foot bringing with him the firearm used in the crime.

Local News: Collector Lost Cash in Heist

Police authorities in Murcia town are conducting pursuit operation on the suspect who reportedly robbed a lending collector Friday afternoon at Sitio Lilo, Brgy. Lopez Jaena.

PSInsp. Norberto P. Barniso identified the victim as Michael Sopenia, 33, of Bago City who was waylaid by three unidentified suspects and took his P15,000 cash, cellular phone and Honda XRM 125cc service vehicle.

Police recovered Sopenia’s service vehicle at Canlaon View Subd., Brgy. Blumentritt believed to be abandoned by the suspects.

Meanwhile, unidentified persons entered Kim Hock Marketing along Rizal Highway at Brgy. 1 in Silay City and stole several items from the store and cash.

A detainee who bolted out of prison Friday was arrested following a joint manhunt operation by elements of Don Salvador Benedicto (DSB) and Murcia Police at Rizal St., Brgy. Zone 3 in Murcia town.

PInsp. Celjun D. Nemenio and SPO1 Danilo Pastro apprehended Rodel Marcon, 19, of Purok Kawayan, Brgy. Pandanon, DSB and detained for violation of the anti-cattle rustling law of 1974. He was detained at DSB Police Station when he bolted out.

Local News: Probers Eye ‘Drugs’ in Ex-Con’s Death

Police investigators are eyeing the angle of illegal drugs in the death of a reported ex-convict who was gunned down January 7 at Purok Boulevard, Brgy. 13 in Bacolod City.

PSupt. Leonardo Borromeo, Police Station 1 chief said that they are looking into the testimonies of some witnesses that Jonathan Cuesta and suspect Maximo Canama alias Mok-mok were having dispute on a transaction which resulted to the shooting.

He added that they are now waiting for the affidavits of the witnesses.

Local News: Cash, Valuables Lost to Trike-Riding Robbers

Cash and several valuables were stolen from a parked vehicle in front of a restaurant in Hinigaran town, Monday afternoon.

Police report said the robbery incident took place about 12:48PM while the Isuzu Fuego pick-up with plate number XLL 933 owned by Vetprogen Corporation parked along Rizal St., Brgy. IV.

The company employees; Mae Ann Tongol, Iresh Porol and Exekeil Allam bound for Dumaguete City were having lunch in the area when two unidentified persons destroyed the right rear window of the pick-up and stole the following: Acer laptop worth P26, 000.00 owned by Tongol; Acer Noteook worth P17, 000.00; two cellular phones, shoulder bag containing digital camera, portable play station, Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card and wallet with P4, 000.00.

Local News: Utility Worker Shot Dead in Calatrava

Police authorities in Calatrava town are in pursuit of suspects who shot dead a municipal utility worker inside his house Monday evening at Brgy. Bantayanun.

Reports identified the victim as Jose Hachuela, 47, who succumbed to multiple pellet wounds on the body inflicted by two unidentified persons using an improvised 12-gauge shotgun.

A suspect was posting outside the house and served as a lookout when the shooters got inside and attacked the victim.

A married woman is facing illegal drug charges after suspected shabu were confiscated from her possession in a raid Tuesday evening at Galo-Lopez Jaena Streets in Bacolod City.

Charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are filed against Juannie Villalba, 42, of Brgy. 27 who was busted by elements of the Special Operation Group (SOG) led by PSupt. Jefferson T. Descallar.

Recovered from her were a small and a big transparent sachets containing suspected shabu, a P500 bill, one P200 bill and a cellular phone.

Villalba denied that the recovered items were hers and claimed that they were only placed in her possession.

Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Station 3 is investigating to identify the suspects in the killing of an Army reservist and his Indian employer at 11AM, Wednesday in Purok Active, Brgy. Mandalagan, in the city.

PSInsp. Edgar Gulmatico of Police Station 3 earlier reported that Alden Teves, 30, and his employer, Kulwinder Singh, 31, of Brgy. Villamonte, both succumbed to gunshot wounds inflicted by bonnet-wearing suspects’ gun.

Teves died on the spot, while Singh was declared dead at Our Lady of Mercy Specialty Hospital a few minutes after.

Criminal charges for illegal drugs sale is poised against a Kabankalanon after being arrested in a raid Friday evening at Brgy. 1 in Kabankalan City.

PInsp. Ricky Dacotdacot led the buy-bust operation about 8PM, Friday at Purok 1, Brgy. 1 and apprehended Rey Calata alias Negro, 37, of Coloso St., Brgy. 6 and recovered from his possession one small heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, one Kawasaki Bajaj without plate number.

Seized items were brought to the PNP Criminal Laboratory for examination. Further investigation on the subject is ongoing.

The case is considered close and solved following the death of the teacher who reportedly shot his superior about 10:20AM inside Trinidad Elementary School in Pontevedra town.

In an interview with NDB, PSInsp. Mary Rose Salve Pico said Harold Salas, 37, of Brgy. Recreo, Pontevedra and a teacher at the said elementary school may be suffering from work-related stress that pushed him to shoot his superior, Jojit Gaudiel.

Local News: Ex-Army Faces Sexual Abuse

Criminal charges for sexual abuse were filed against a former member of the Philippine Army by kins of the children who were reportedly mistreated, yesterday in San Enrique town.

Police report said relatives of the 10 and 9 years old brothers filed the criminal case against former army Arnold Vaflor, 48, of City Heights Subdivision, Brgy. Taculing in Bacolod City who were allegedly sexually abused by the suspect.

Investigation revealed that another 5 year old child was also victimized by the suspect. The three children were asked by the suspect to buy cigarette and bread from a nearby store where the incident happened. Afterward, they were invited to eat inside the shack where the suspect stayed. Examination report confirmed that one of the brothers sustained a 6 o’clock laceration.

Operatives of Valladolid Police arrested five suspects in buy-bust and while in pot session about 5:15 PM, yesterday at Purok Gingaw, Brgy. Tabao in the town.

PCInsp. Luisito G. Acebuche, police chief led the operation and apprehended Andreano Penol after handing over a small heat-sealed sachet containing suspected shabu to a poseur buyer.

Also collared were Johnmer Balidiong, 25, of Guimaras Province and Andre Mar Penol, 33, Leonid Valero, 25, Arlee Camirin, 20, all of Central Tabao while in pot session. Recovered from the scene were two plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, paraphernalia, scissors and lighters.

Mayordomo’s arrest was effected through a warrant issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 61 Judge Henry D. Arles.

Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) reported six persons hurt in separate vehicular accidents Saturday.

Over Don Salvador Benedicto, an Isuzu truck with plate number RLW 551 driven by Rodolfo Nobleza fell off the cliff, about 15 feet below at Purok Talos, Brgy. Igmayaan hurting his companion, Hernani Regalado.

Investigation said the truck which hauls diesel products was negotiating a sharp curve from East to West between Kilometer 41 and 42 when the brake malfunctioned. It added that the driver avoided a group of children beside the road, hit the stock pile and fell off the cliff.
