Local News: Cop, Back Rider Hurt in Mishap

A police officer assigned at Negros Occidental Police Public Safety Company (NOPPSC) and his back rider was hurt after their motorcycle accidentally bumped against an oncoming truck about 8:30AM, Tuesday in Don Salvador Benedicto (DSB) town.

Traffic reports said PO1 Juanito Lambating and back rider Rojan Palomar, 25, of San Carlos City were on board a Suzuki motorcycle when he lost control while maneuvering a sharp curve at Kilometer 40, Purok Tuburan, Brgy. Pandanon, DSB and collided against a Fuso truck with plate number FDG 498 driven by July Bansiloy, 27, of DSB. The truck was traversing from the opposite direction where the motorcycle was running.

Local News: ‘Bus Thief’ Falls to Cops

Police authorities in La Carlota City arrested a suspected bus thief over the weekend and recovered the remaining part of the stolen cash from the vehicle’s passenger.

PSInsp. Gary Alan V. Resuma, La Carlota City Police officer-in-charge apprehended Angelo Lingco, 31, of Dela Rama St., Brgy. 2, for allegedly stealing the P44, 000 cash of Rodolfo Nonar, 42, of Brgy. Quintin Remo, Moises Padilla.

Initial investigation said, Nonar was on board a Ceres bus to Canlaon City and was in the area of Brgy. Haguimit in La Carlota City when he discovered that his money from the sale of his sugarcane and placed inside the lower pocket of his short pants was gone.

He then reported the incident to the police station and identified the suspect through the rogues’ gallery of the police. Pursuit operation by Resuma led to the apprehension of the suspect inside his live-in partner’s house at Zone 5, Brgy. Bagumbayan, Valladolid.

Local News: Drug Peddler Busted in Dolid

Criminal charges for allegedly peddling illegal drugs will be filed against a suspected pusher in Valladolid after he was busted in a raid at about 7AM, yesterday in the town.

PCInsp. Luisito G. Acebuche, Valladolid Police head with Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (PAIDSOTG) PSinsp. Joemarie Occeño arrested Harder Baloya after handing a plastic sachet containing suspected shabu in exchange for P200 marked bill.

Recovered from Baloya, 36, of Brgy. Sagua Banwa were 14 sachets of suspected shabu, two disposable lighters, one cellular phone and unaccounted cash believed to be proceeds from the illegal trade.

Charges for violation of Section 5 (sale) under Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared to be filed before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.

The body of a 58-year old woman was found dead 9:30 a.m. Monday about 30 meters away from her house in Brgy. Agboy, Candoni town.

Police report said village kagawad Noel Ubara informed that the body of Nelly Semilla, of Sitio Bali, Brgy. Agboy was discovered half naked and with injuries on the head believed struck with a hard object by unidentified suspect.

Local News: Man Killed, 3 Others Wounded in Shooting

A Silay City resident with his companions, and two brothers in Kabankalan City were shot in separate shoot-ing incidents, Wednesday and Tuesday.

Silay Police reports revealed Monjan Aguirre, 20, of Villa Hergon, Brgy. Rizal was with his friend, Edgardo Barranco alias JR, 27, of Carmela Subd., Brgy. 5, when the two suspects on board a motorcycle approached and fired at them without provocation.

Aguirre was declared dead by attending physician at Teresita Jalandoni Provincial Hospital due to multiple gunshot wounds; while, Barranco sustained a single gunshot wound on the upper right portion of his thigh and is still under medical treatment.

Mansilingan, Bacolod, a call center agent, was on board a Honda TMX tricycle driven by Martin Dublar from the southern part of Lacson Extension in Brgy. Authorities in Sipalay City are in pursuit of two suspects reportedly involved in the shooting to death of a city employee about 6PM Friday at the national road in Brgy. Cartagena.

Initial investigation said Richard Tolmo, 28, was shot by two unidentified suspects on board a white-colored Honda motorcycle.

Tolmo, among key men in implementing the Privilege Health Card project of City Mayor Oscar "Nonoy" Montilla’s administration, sustained several gunshot wounds causing his death.

Local News: Cops Probe Brgy. Tanods’ Murder

Police authorities in Calatrava town are conducting follow-up investigation on the killing of two Brgy. Laga-an’s tanod and the death of the murder suspect, Monday evening.

Earlier reports revealed two of Brgy. Laga-an tanods were shot dead about 11PM, Monday that also killed a murder suspect while trying to evade arrest.

Ludovico Lusaria, 46, chief tanod and his companion, Hilarion Quezon, 43, were shot by Eleazar Espadilla, 31, of Brgy. Ani-E, a murder suspect wanted by the authorities.

A pedestrian was killed after he was hit by a bus along the national road in Brgy. Camingawan, Kabankalan City about 10:30AM, Wednesday.

Traffic police said involved was a Ceres bus bearing plate number FW13155 owned by Vallacar Transit Inc. driven by Jessie Baynosa, 35, of Brgy. La Granja, La Carlota City.

Investigation revealed Baynosa was travelling north direction of the road from Mabinay to Kabankalan City proper when he saw a group of person on the opposite lane and reduced speed.

Police authorities in Murcia town are in pursuit of a suspect who reportedly shot his brother-in-law about 8:45PM, Saturday at Hacienda Linasan, Brgy. Salvacion.

Alert Team led by SPO1 Danilo Pastro with PO3 George Romo and PO2 Dennie Salmorin conducted initial investigation and identified the victim as Jerry Duran, 43, who succumbed to a gunshot wound on the back portion of his head and declared dead by attending physician at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH).

Local News: 2 Killed in Mishap

Two persons were killed and four were hurt in separate road mishaps, mostly motorcycle-related, in Negros Occidental before the countdown to New Year.

In Sagay City, Private First Class (PFC) Jamel Mabansag, 30, of the 62nd Infantry Battalion (Philippine Army) based at Brgy. Bato was on board his Honda motorcycle with his back rider, Arnold Navales when they accidentally collided with a Kawasaki motorcycle driven by Edson Villarosa.

Initial investigation showed the accident happened about 6:10PM, December 31, 2013 along the national road in Sitio Balibag, Brgy. Lopez Jaena.

Mabansag’s vehicle was running towards Brgy. Bato and the other motorcycle was traversing the opposite direction when the accident happened damaging both vehicles and causing serious injuries on the riders.

Three men were killed in separate shooting incidents in different areas of Negros Occidental.

Provincial Policer Office records showed that a 35-year old resident of Binalbagan town was declared dead by attending physicians at the Rural Health Center for multiple gunshot wounds.

The shooting incident took place an hour after the countdown to 2014 at Sitio Cambungol, Brgy. Santol.

Reneboy Pedro, according to initial investigation was with his brothers, Marlon and Ryan on their way to visit his in-laws when waylaid by unidentified suspects who shot him.

A 75-year old widower was killed when their vehicle turned turtle in a road accident about 1:30PM, Friday along the national highway in Hacienda Layagon, Brgy. Lalagsan, La Castellana town.

Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) reports revealed that a utility vehicle bearing plate number XHG 728 and driven by Ignacio Dalisay, of Tibiao, Antique with his passengers; Lea Alpas and Federico Eraga, also of Antique.

Eraga was declared dead at Elumba Medical Clinic for injuries sustained when their vehicle fell after hitting the canal on the left side of the road and turned turtle towards the sugarcane plantation.

Initial investigation said the utility vehicle was travelling the highway from South to North direction when a Ceres Bus Liner with plate number GT805 driven by Eduardo Vargas, of Brgy. Panubigan, Canlaon City tried to overtake but went back to its lane when the bus driver saw two motorcycles from the opposite lane.
